Okcheon is where, in House on Wheels 4, Sung Dong-il and the youngest cast members parked the mobile home and spent the Okcheon autumn. It's the backdrop of the episode where a spread of mandarin-fish sashimi and spicy stew won the youngsters over.
Okcheon's highlight is Busodamak in Chuso-ri, Gunbuk-myeon. A ridge of rock rising like a folding screen over the waters of Daecheong Lake, it appears to float on the lake, and is counted among Okcheon's Nine Scenic Views and Korea's '100 Beautiful Streams.' In autumn the nearby Whale Village foliage turns every color, mingling with dawn mist over the water.
Pair the Busodamak observatory and the sea-of-clouds at Yongamsa with the birthplace and museum of poet Jeong Ji-yong for an overnight in Okcheon. The local specialty doribaengbaengi makes a good meal.
