Daejeon is where the cast of 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4 declared 'Daejeon means bread' and set off on a mission to the bakery lovers' holy site. At the center of Daejeon's transformation from 'boring city' to 'city of bread' stands Sungsimdang.
Sungsimdang opened in 1956 in front of Daejeon Station and draws visitors from across the country with its twisted fried soboro bun and chive bread. The main branch always has a long line, but it pairs well with a stroll through Daejeon's old downtown (Eunhaeng-dong and Daeheung-dong).
Start from the Sungsimdang main store, continue to the old-downtown cafe street, and finish at a long-established Daejeon kalguksu or dubu-duruchigi restaurant for a full bread-and-food pilgrimage.
