The galbi village of Idong in Pocheon is where the cast of 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4 put on an impromptu live concert just to earn a bite of grilled ribs. A spread of charcoal-grilled Idong galbi was the star of that commotion.
Pocheon Idong galbi dates to the early 1960s, when galbi restaurants gathered in Idong-myeon. It's known for fanning thin rib cuts out with extra meat before grilling, and to this day long-running galbi houses line Hwadong-ro in Idong-myeon, forming the 'Idong galbi village.'
Close to Seoul, it works for a day trip, or pair it with Sanjeong Lake, the Korea National Arboretum and Pocheon Art Valley for an overnight in the northern Gyeonggi region.
