The dish that became a talking point on 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4 — worth a long round trip to taste — is Suncheon's cockle feast (kkomak jeongsik). Plump cockles from Beolgyo and Suncheon arrive as a full southern spread: seasoned, pan-fried and in soup.
Before or after the meal, the Suncheonman Bay Wetland is the classic course. At dusk the S-shaped channel and reed fields turn red — a sight that stays with you in photos and in person. Climb to the Yongsan Observatory for a sweeping view over the whole bay.
Aim for late autumn, when the reeds are at their best, and time your visit for sunset for the most rewarding trip.
