Gyodong Island in Ganghwa, Incheon, is the setting of the Ganghwa–Gyodong episode of 2 Days & 1 Night Season 1 — including the infamous ping-pong showdown that put the night's sleeping arrangements (and the PD's resignation letter) on the line.
Gyodong sits at the northern edge of the Han River estuary, a border island within sight of North Korea across the water. Its centerpiece is Daeryong Market, built by families displaced from the North to mirror their hometown market, where 1960s–70s signs and alleys survive almost untouched, like a town where time stopped.
The Gyodong Bridge lets you drive across, though it passes through a civilian-control zone with checkpoints. Pair it with Gwangseongbo and Jeondeungsa on the main Ganghwa island for a day or overnight trip.
