Geoje is where the cast of 2 Days & 1 Night Season 1 had a field day with word games and comedy in the Gyeongnam Geoje episode, set against the island scenery of the Hallyeo Maritime park.
Geoje is Korea's second-largest island after Jeju, linked to the mainland by bridge so you can drive across. Coastal scenery unfolds one after another: the camellia island of Jisimdo, the Oedo Botania garden, the Windy Hill and Sinseondae cliffs, and the recently popular Maemiseong 'castle.'
Close to Busan and Tongyeong, it slots easily into a south-coast trip. The island is large with sights scattered along the coast, so an overnight that splits the island into zones makes for a fuller visit.
