Andong Hahoe Folk Village featured in an episode of the long-running variety show 2 Days & 1 Night, but it is a destination in its own right. The Pungsan Ryu clan has kept this village for some 600 years, and the Nakdong River loops around it in an ‘S’ — the source of its name, Hahoe (‘river-return’).
Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2010, it preserves tiled noble houses and thatched commoners’ homes side by side, aristocratic and folk culture living together in one village. Climb to Buyongdae cliff across the river for a sweeping view, and time an autumn evening for the Hahoe mask dance and fire-rope performance.
Pair with nearby Byeongsan Seowon and Woryeonggyo Bridge for an Andong overnight.
